This study by Momentus takes stock of the official finance scene, analyzing selected Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and Export Credit Agencies (ECAs). We worked with our research partner, the Institute for Trade and Innovation (IfTI) at Offenburg University, to complete the work.

This study, prepared by Momentus (formerly IFCL) in collaboration with our research partner, the Institute for Trade and Innovation (IfTI) at Offenburg University, consists of a quantitative and qualitative analysis regarding collaboration and competition of development finance and export finance instruments. The aim is to map selected bilateral Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) as well as Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) and Export-Import Banks.

The Study also assesses regulatory frameworks and matches the different organizations in an intra- and inter-comparison approach. It looks at motivations and drivers for the involvement of DFIs, MDBs and ECAs in specific transactions, and thus analyzes the financing landscape within a transactional context.

Momentus completed this independent evaluation of the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub. It includes a comprehensive assessment, case studies, primary best practices, and key lessons learned.

This handbook provides readers with a comprehensive resource for studying international trade policy, governance, and financing. It includes a chapter, How Banking Regulators and Trade Ministers are Singing from Different Songbooks 221, co-written by Momentus’ CEO Diana Smallridge.
